Joint Awards Ceremony of the 2025 “Honor and Fulfillment: Fulfilling Wishes Together,”

Hosted by the Taiwan Organ Registry and Sharing Center (TORSC) & Patient Autonomy Promotion Center

Organ donation coordinators play an indispensable role in helping terminally ill patients fulfill their final wish of giving the gift of life.

Professor Po-Chang Lee, former Director-General of the National Health Insurance Administration and former Chairman of TORSC from 2011 to 2020, now serving at Taipei Medical University, also attended the ceremony. He expressed deep respect and warm blessings to the outstanding organ donation coordinators present.

During his tenure, former Chairman Lee actively promoted Taiwan’s organ donation policies and system reforms. His key contributions included:

  • Integrating Taiwan’s previously fragmented 11 organ procurement networks into four coordinated regions—North, Central, South, and East—enhancing fairness and efficiency in organ allocation.

  • Implementing the “Surrender and Gain—Priority Allocation Program,” which grants first-degree relatives and spouses of organ donors priority opportunities in future organ allocation.

Former Chairman Lee laid the foundation for the Center’s development and continued to advance public awareness and support for organ donation. In recognition of his long-term dedication and remarkable achievements, he was awarded the Special Contribution Award for Organ Donation.
