【Media Interviews】Epoch Times Interview: “Long-Term Care Funding – Scholars Suggest Increasing Stability”

2023/06/05

Regarding the integration of digital technology and long-term care, Lee Chung-Hsi, the Vice Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Taipei Medical University, believes that caregiving is fundamentally a human-to-human relationship, which cannot be replaced by machines or digits. However, with the assistance of technology, caregiving can be made more specialized. When digital technology is applied to long-term care, it can enhance personalization, standardization, and the overall quality of caregiving.

Addressing the corresponding challenges, Lee Chung-Hsi mentioned the following points: the implementation of technology requires process changes and training for caregivers, potential conflicts between standardized care processes and personalized caregiving, the need to broaden the legal scope for remote caregiving to empower nursing professionals to contribute their expertise, and the improvement of data integration, utilization, and analysis, which is currently limited by certain legal constraints.
